Earth Breeze vs. Tru Earth | Which one is better?

Congratulations, you have already taken the step to reduce millions of plastic bottles from liquid detergent going to landfills by opting for one of the detergent sheets mentioned above.

But which one is the better purchase? How do they hold up over time? Which one smells better, and which one is better value for your money?

We have tried them both for an extended period, and this article will give you the clarity to decide which detergent sheets are for you.

Earth Breeze

After using both detergent sheets for several months and even making videos about how well they perform. I have to say the number one laundry detergent eco sheets winner is Earth breeze laundry sheets, and here are the reasons:

Pros:

To go into more detail, Earth Breeze eco sheets work in every washing machine you can think of. They come in zero waste packaging and give back through their buy one give ten program. Earth Breeze is cruelty-free, vegan, and carbon neutral, which means they donate money to offset the entire supply chain and shipping.

It is safe to use on sensitive skin since it contains no harmful chemicals. You can use the sheets in hot or cold water, and they will perform just fine. If you only do small loads, you can simply just half a sheet.

I also tried their multisurface cleaner sheet, which works great. I used it in our mop to give the floor a quick clean but also to wipe tables and furniture. Same here; it comes in minimal packaging that reduces plastic waste.

Smells nice and does a good job at cleaning things. Now I am no professional cleaner but for what I do in the house it worked well.

Con:

Made in China, the packaging can be a bit deceiving since it advertises for 60 loads but only contains 30 strips, and it isn’t clear that you have to tear them in half if you want to use it for 60 loads. Tru earth eco strips are visually more pleasing as they make it obvious to tear them apart.

The ingredients; Earth Breeze uses two ingredients that I find a bit questionable.

Polyvinyl Alcohol, which is some sort of thickener, but I am no chemist so read on here if you want to know more about it. The other one is Polyethylene glycol and that is derived from petroleum, which is kind of not great.

Tru Earth eco strips

Tru earth eco strips are very similar to Earth Breeze, and if you look at their website, you might think that one is copying the other. Even the layout of the website is pretty similar. But hey, look at Mcdonald’s and BurgerKing; both have fans too.

So the price is the biggest reason Tru Earth does not sit in the first spot in this rundown of the best laundry products. It is double the price of Earth Breeze. Secondly, their give-back efforts are present but not as good as their direct competitor. While Earth Breeze makes ten donations on every purchase with True Earth, you have to sign up first before they take action.

The last point is probably why Tru Earth has to charge more since Earth Breeze is manufacturing their product overseas.

Nevertheless, we used both products, and both did the trick. They reduce the amount of plastic packaging, they have strong cleaning power for such small stripes, they both save space in your laundry cupboard, and you can even travel with them (Guilty of that). Both offer free shipping and both smell good.

Is True Earth and Earth Breeze the same?

Tru Earth and Earth Breeze are different companies addressing the same problem. Unnecessary use of liquid detergents, mostly water and reducing the amount of plastic pollution by using zero waste packaging and no harmful chemicals, making them biodegradable and cruelty-free. Both works for sensitive skin and both laundry detergent sheets have a fresh scent and no scent option.

Likewise, Earth breeze has created more than just its laundry sheets and has extended its range to dishcloths and even tote bags. Oh, and here is my daughter with the Earth Breeze Bag:

The biggest difference I could find is in the ingredients list.

Earth Breeze has four more ingredients than Tru Earth which brings it to 8 ingredients vs 12, no big deal here. But if you read into the fingerprint you will find that Earth Breeze contains polyvinyl alcohol and polyethylene glycol, which is a water-soluble petroleum byproduct. 

This means it does use something that contributes further to using fossil fuels but then again it is also a byproduct of the industry and it wasn’t clear whether this by-product would otherwise go to waste.

Which laundry strips are best?

You may have heard of brands like Dropps, Space White, and more. But why should I waste your time naming all these competitors popping out of nowhere in record time just to jump on the same bandwagon and benefit from the zero-waste laundry detergent sheets wave? I feel you only need to know about the two, perhaps three, best options out there.

I have yet been meaning to review Dropps, but sadly they didn’t ship to Canada at the time of me writing this, but I heard good things about them. Yes, they are not sheets. They make laundry detergent pods that are dissolvable. But with 2500 5-star reviews, they must be doing something right.

Conclusion

This is such a tight race that it really is up to you in the end. If you want to go the extra mile and spend a little bit more money but know that your product is made in Canada and uses no petroleum-based by-product then I would suggest you should go for True Earth.

If you want to do your part and be more environmentally friendly but don’t want to spend extra money then I would go for Earth Breeze.

Both of these companies are doing a great job in cleaning your clothes, giving back to charities and reducing the amount of plastic waste going to landfills. Now it’s up to you.
